KIDDE are recalling fire extinguishers over fears they can fail to activate in an emergency.
Approximately 169,000 push-button Pindicator fire extinguishers were sold in the UK between 1995 and 2006 while 700 plastic handle fire extinguishers were sold in the UK between 2011/2012.
Kidde is not aware of any incidents in the United Kingdom and other EU/EEA Member States involving the affected products but, in the United States and Canada, Kidde has received approximately 391 reports of limited or failed activation or nozzle detachment.
In a statement on the Chartered Trading Standards Institute, it read: “Affected fire extinguishers can become clogged or require excessive force to discharge and can fail to activate during a fire emergency. In addition, in some models, the nozzle may detach with enough force to pose an impact hazard.”
