A MAN was given a suspended sentence after admitting to assaulting a woman in a house.
Blackburn magistrates were told how Roy King, 39, of Seascale Close, assaulted Joanna Jones thereby occasioning her actual bodily harm. The court heard the offence happened at a house in Burnley on September 11.
King pleaded guilty to a single charge of assault occasion actual bodily harm. He was sentenced to 20 weeks imprisonment, but magistrates suspended it for two years and given a two-year restraining order, which bans him from contacting Ms Jones directly or indirectly and entering Rosehill Road, Burnley, or it’s adjacent back alleyways.
King was told to complete a 15-day rehabilitation activity requirement and complete 24 days of a relationships programme. He must also pay £200 compensation, £85 prosecution costs and a £115 surcharge to fund victim services. The money will be deducted from his benefits at a rate of £5-per-week. A court spokesman said: “The defendant’s guilty plea was taken into account when imposing the sentence.”
