A BLACKBURN school has been announced as a Google Reference School for its use of technology to improve teaching, learning and assessment.
Witton Park Academy will act as a reference point for other schools and colleges looking for advice on best practice for using G Suite for Education
The reference status is awarded to a school that uses G Suite for Education, which uses Google apps to bring teachers and students together, in exemplary and innovative ways.
The Buncer Lane school has seen huge growth in its use of technology since it started using it 18 months ago with the vast majority of students using Google Classroom to submit work, ask questions and get feedback within hours.
Headteacher Dean Logan said the use of Google for pupils and staff to collaborate with each other has significantly improved productivity for all.
He said: "This is further recognition of the innovative work and partnerships that the Academy and staff have in ensuring that we continue to provide the relevant and up to date skills for our students.
"Collaboration is one of our key values and the partnership with Google is a great example of this."
Year seven pupil Mustifikhar said: "One small step for technology, one giant leap for digital learning. G-suites is a great way of mixing up our workstyle."
