A 43-YEAR-OLD woman who found herself homeless walked from Blackburn to Chorley to see if her mum could help her.

Blackburn magistrates heard when Tracy Kirby got to a property owned by her mum and she wasn't there so she threw a stone through a window and then walked back to Blackburn.

And the court was told the mum now wanted a restraining order against her daughter.

Kirby, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to criminal damage to windows worth £600 belonging to Kathleen Wolstenholme.

he was jailed for 14 days for the offence and a further 18 days of a suspended prison sentence was activated.

Kirby was also made subject to a restraining order which prohibits her from having any contact with her mum for 12 months.

Catherine Allan, prosecuting, said Mrs Wolstenholme owned a property in Chorley which she was in the process of renovating.

CCTV showed Kirby carrying a piece of stone which she threw against a window causing a scratch. She then went to another room and threw the stone through the window.

Gareth Price, defending, said the offence was linked to his client's problems with accommodation. She had been staying at the Salvation Army but was asked to leave.

"She walked to Chorley to see if her mum could help her with accommodation," said Mr Price. "There was no one there and she caused the damage and then walked back."
