A MAN who took part in a burglary at a do-it-yourself store and felt immediate guilt backed up his emotions with actions.
Blackburn magistrates heard that Giovanni Piras, 20, gave himself up to police and confessed what he had done before the store had time to report the break in.
And defence solicitor Daniel King said the officer investigating found himself in the unusual position of having to confirm the offence with B&Q management after Piras had confessed.
Piras, of Kirby Road, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to theft of a quad bike and power tools from B&Q. He was remanded on bail for the preparation of a pre-sentence report.
Mr King said Piras was already subject to community supervision and his probation officer reported him as making good progress. Shortly before the offence a friend had died in prison and this had sent Piras "off the rails."
