HOUSES now stand on the site but this photograph from the Lancashire Telegraph archives shows a new extension at Blackburn Royal Infirmary nearing completion.
Taken in 1964, the new multi-storey wing at the hospital would be used for surgical wards.
Thy looked out on to Bolton Road and the original Victorian facade of te hospital building can be seen in the background.
