BULB planting is back in season and people have been asked to take part in an annual event.
Scouts and guides from Read and Simonstone scout group will put be digging for bulb plants as a part of a Spring time display.
The Martholme Greenway group will add some to the entrance of their soon to be opened footpath along the old railway line from the old railway bridge abutments near the bottom of Simonstone Lane to Gooseleach Woods where it meets other existing paths.
Geoff Hodbod, secretary of the Read and Simonstone village hall group, said: "For the past four years, Simonstone Parish council has bought the bulbs from the Huntroyde Garden Centre and they have always been generous in the help they have given.
"The local parish council are trying to support local businesses ourselves so we turn that into action and help the local community."
People have been invited to meet at the Stork Hotel Car Park on Whalley Road on September 30 from 2pm.
Participants have been asked to bring a spade or towel.
