A MAN who assaulted a woman has been told to carry out unpaid work.
Blackburn Magistrates Court heard Adrian Waring, 39, of Clayton-le-Moors assaulted Ashley Chambelain by beating her.
Magistrates heard that without lawful excuse, Waring damaged a Samsung J3 mobile phone and a wooden bed frame to the value of £210.
The court heard that Waring was also found in possessions of a quantity of cannabis.
All the offences took place in Accrington on July 29.
Waring pleaded guilty to assault, possessing a Class B drug and damaging property without lawful excuse being reckless as to whether such property would be destroyed or
damaged.
Waring was made subject of a 12-month conditional discharge, ordered to complete 80 hours of unpaid work within the next 12 months and told to pay £210 compensation.
The unpaid work requirement will be monitored by the probation service.
He must also pay £85 prosecution costs and an £85 victim surcharge.
The charges will have to be paid at a rate of £20 per week starting from September 9.
Magistrates imposed a forfeiture and destruction order for the cannabis.
A magistrates court spokesman said: “The defendant’s guilty plea taken into account when imposing sentence.”
