TWINS Chloe and Alex Eadon were celebrating after achieving a clutch of As and A*s after taking their GCSEs at Mount Carmel RC High School in Accrington.
Chloe, who overcame difficult circumstances this year, got A*s in geography and religious education and a 8 in maths - equivalent to an A*, which was two grades above her target.
Her brother Alex got an A* in RE and A grades in history and science.
Meanwhile head girl Ambar Siddique scored the top 9 grade in maths as well as five A*s and two As. Ambar is planning to go to St Mary’s College in Blackburn to study maths, biology and chemistry.
Shadab Syed joined Mount Carmel at the beginning of Year 11 having just moved to the country.
Despite having to catch up work that he missed from Year 10, Shadab achieved four As including science and geography, an 8 in maths, and a 7 in English Literature.
Olivia Lo-Giudice Olivia said she was ‘overwhelmed’ when she opened her results to find she had achieved a 9 in English and an 8 in English Literature, both well above her target grades.
Olivia will study English Language, English Literature and art at Burnley College with the hopes of going to university.
She said: “I stayed every week after school to do revision sessions, but I didn’t expect to get a 9.”
And Danyal Grasso said he was convinced he had failed the maths exam.
He received a 7 in English Language, a 6 in English Literature, but was most proud of getting a 5 in maths, a subject he worked incredibly hard toward this year.
He said: “I cried after the maths exam because I thought I had failed. I can’t believe I got a 5.”
