A 38-YEAR-OLD man assaulted his partner during a row following a party.
Blackburn magistrates heard Timothy David Proberts stopped Jolene Bailey from leaving the house and took her phone when she tried to call the police.
But despite the incident the couple still plan to marry next year.
Proberts, of Kenilworth Drive, Earby, pleaded guilty to assaulting Jolene Bailey. He was sentenced to eight weeks in prison suspended for 12 months and ordered to pay £85 costs and £115 victim surcharge.
Alex Mann, prosecuting, said it had been a sustained attack which resulted in bruising.
Gareth Price, defending, said there had been tensions in the relationship in recent weeks which came to a head after they had attended a party on Saturday.
"An argument began and he accepts his behaviour was not what it should have been," said Mr Price.
