MORE than 30 jobs could be created if proposals to build a builders' merchants at a business park.
Tim Webber, of Barnfield Construction Ltd, has submitted the proposed plans to build the merchants at unit 7 and 8 at Empire Business Park in Burnley.
The plans include employing 32 full-time staff and the business would sell a variety of construction materials.
If given the go-ahead, the business would be open for trade between 7am and 6pm Monday to Friday, 7am to 4pm on Saturdays and 9am to 4pm on Sundays.
The plans also include 63 car parking spaces to compliment the new development.
There would be a large open frontage looking onto Liverpool Road and the height of the building will be similar to those around it.
A new access road and path would be built from the estate road off Liverpool Road.
Within a planning document, a spokesman on behalf of the applicant said: “My clients have many years experience in industrial development and have gauged the mix and size of the proposed units to satisfy their assessment of the local market.
“Although no-one can predict the future economy, they are confident enough to be prepared to make this sizeable initial, infrastructure investment.
“The range of uses proposed will involve light servicing from small vans and cars.
“To this end, every unit will be provided with adequate, on site, service vehicle parking, separated where possible from employee car parking.
“Every unit will accommodate a level approach to principle entrances and car parking spaces for disabled drivers will be provided at strategic positions.”
