PUBLIC toilets which have been struck by drainage issues are at risk of closure.
Salterforth Toilets, which were saved by volunteers after Pendle Borough Council announced plans to close them, could be hit with a bill of £1,500 to carry out work on a faulty pipe.
Kevin Pollard, on behalf of Salterforth Toilets Group, has asked the council for a £500 grant towards the cost.
In a report he said: "Our current aim is to keep the toilets open as long as possible but only if we
have the money to fund them in advance.
"We are again looking for funding to help us with a broken Sewage pipe. We had managed to clear the blockage several times but each time the challenge got harder until we finally had to enlist help of a drain specialist which cost £250.
"They cleared the drain but found the fault to be a collapsed pipe and the fault would reoccur without it being replaced.
"They gave us a quote of £1500. Unfortunately that would just about clean us out but our goal is to keep the toilets open as long as possible."
The group also had to replace a water pipe after a major leak.
