DEATH threats have been made against an East Lancashire MP, it is claimed.
Andrew Stephenson, MP for Pendle, said threats were also made against his staff.
Taking to Twitter he said: "Thanks to @LancsPolice & @StaffsPolice for their quick response to the latest death threat I have received. Pleased an arrest has been made.
"Threats were also made against my staff. Totally unacceptable - appreciate the swift response from the police."
Cllr Joe Cooney, who works in Mr Stephenson's office, said: "We do get abuse and people think they can be rude but thankfully the level of seriousness of this one is the first I have come across.
"It is quite unnerving.
"He was quite deliberate. He was calm and collected and knew what he was saying. He was making the phone call to make a threat.
"The police have been superb in their response."
Threats were also made against my staff. Totally unacceptable - appreciate the swift response from the police.
