FIRE: The incident took place in Edge End Avenue Brierfield
A LOFT was damaged after a fire broke out at a house.
The flames at the home in Edge End Avenue, Brierfield, were attended to by 15 firefighters from Nelson and Burnley at 6.10pm yesterday.
A fire service spokesman said the cause of the fire is yet to be established.
He said: "Firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus used two hosereel jets to extinguish the fire and a portable fan unit to extract the smoke and heat.
"A casualty suffering from the effects of breathing smoke was attended to by paramedics at the scene but did not require hospital treatment."
