A MAN who attacked his partner for a second time wanted to carry on their relationship where they left off, a court was told.
Dwaine Holt, 21, has twice grabbed mother-of-two Sarah Knowles by the throat, called her names and left her injured.
Burnley magistrates heard how Holt claimed Miss Knowles had had a go' at him after accusing him of looking at her sister dancing provocatively.
The defendant, of Queen Street, Harle Syke, Burnley, admitted assault by beating on June 3.
He had been subject to a conditional discharge for an earlier assault at the time. He was bailed until August 1, for a pre-sentence report and the bench said they were thinking of a medium community penalty.
Stephen Parker, prosecuting, said the couple went to her nephew's christening at a club, didn't drink much as they had the children with them, but went into town after they got home. The children were left with a babysitter.
Mr Parker said about 11.15pm, the pair got a taxi home, the defendant was in a bad mood and hit the victim, cutting her lip. When they arrived home, Holt grabbed his partner, pushed her onto the bed, began pushing and shoving her around and called her names.
Both children could hear what was happening and were crying.
The prosecutor said that in March last year Holt was given a 16-month conditional discharge for common assault. He had attacked Miss Knowles after he became jealous of pictures on her mobile phone. On that occasion, he grabbed her around the throat, until she was struggling for breath, pinned her down on the bed and called her a slag. She suffered cuts and bruises.
Lee Hammond, defending, said Holt hoped he, the victim and the children could carry on as a family unit.
