A 30-YEAR-OLD Clitheroe man who crashed his car while using his mobile phone was later found to be more than double the legal drink-drive limit.
Blackburn magistrates heard Stephen Green was responsible for a three-car collision at the Rishton traffic lights on a Sunday afternoon.
The magistrates were told it was his third conviction for drink-driving.
Green, of Brook Street, Clitheroe, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol.
He was fined £916 with £85 costs and £92 victim surcharge and banned from driving for 40 months.
Gareth Price, defending, said Green had been at home with his partner when they got involved in a row.
"He took the decision to drive away from the situation, not thinking he would be over the limit," said Mr Price.
