A MEMORIAL garden in Hoddlesden, which has taken 30 years to get off the ground, is finally ready to have its dedication ceremony.
The Bishop of Burnley, the Rt Rev John William Goddard, will dedicate the garden later this month.
The memorial garden at St Paul's Church, New Johnson Road, was constructed and completed in March this year.
The idea for the 10-square-metre garden was first conceived around 30 years ago.
But it was only this year that the plans were finalised and funding was available to create the £3,500 showpiece.
Its purpose is to commemorate people who have died.
The Rev Geoff Mumford said: "The idea for a memorial garden was first thought about 30 years ago and it has taken a long time.
"When I came to this church there were plans for a garden, but no work had commenced on it.
"The garden has been open since March and the Bishop of Burnley is dedicating it later this month."
The dedication will take place in a special ceremony at 4pm on July 15.
