A GROUNDWORKER got behind the wheel while over the limit after a fracas with his father at home, a court heard.
Andrew Dagg, 19, was caught out after he rang his mother while police were at the house and they traced the call to a phone box.
He gave a breath test showing 53 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath - the legal limit is 35.
Dagg, of Temple Street, Nelson, admitted driving with excess alcohol. He was fined £160, with £95 costs and banned for a year.
Elizabeth Reed, prosecuting, told the court police were called to Dagg's family home in the early hours.
Dagg had left in a van and had apparently been drinking.
His mother was not sure where he was but the defendant rang her whilst officers were present.
Police went to the phone box and found Dagg. The defendant, who had no previous convictions, was arrested.
Nick Dearing, defending, said Dagg had gone from Fence to Barrowford and rang his mother to see if he could sort the matter at home out. He co-operated with police.
