PLANS to bring a closed nightclub back to its former glory have collapsed.
The former Liquid and Envy in Blackburn stood empty for more than two years before proposals to turn the St Peter’s Street building into ‘The Mill’ were announced on social media.

A bar, nightclub and a restaurant were part of the plans to transform the vacant building.
The club closed its doors in January 2015 after almost a decade due ‘trading conditions’ and a reduction of customers.
Mike Hajewskyj, from the town and who was behind The Mill announcement, said an agreement could not be reached over the lease with the building’s owners.
He said: “This is not the be all and end all.
“We are looking for other opportunities and we have one or two venues we are quite fond of.
“This is still good news for the town.
“We liked the size of the building as it reflected our vision and what we wanted to achieve.
“We are still interested in doing something in Blackburn. It might be at a smaller venue but we want to do something here.”
The two-storey building will be up for auction today for £160,000 at the AJ Bell Stadium in Manchester.
When the club first opened it had capacity for 1,260 people.
It was previously known as Jumpin’ Jaks, Golden Palms and The Mecca.
A number of bars and clubs have opened up in recent months as part of a plan to revive the night-time economy in the town.
The Hawaiian-themed Tiki Monkey in King William Street is set to open next month, next door to the town’s newest micropub, The Drummer’s Arms.
The former Live Lounge bar in Northgate was reopened as Loop earlier this month and created around 10 jobs.
Cllr Phil Riley, Blackburn with Darwen Council’s executive member for the regeneration portfolio, said: “We are aware there is plenty of interest in the building.
“I would expect someone will put it to good use.”
James Newton, a member of Improve Blackburn’s Nightlife, said it was a sad loss the plans would not be going ahead.
He said: “Our team at Blackburn’s nightlife group will remain strong and keep pushing the project forward to find a businessman or woman for the building.
“The Blackburn with Darwen regeneration team is helping us as much as it can.
“I would still like it to be a nightclub and restaurant, maybe something like the firepit steak house like they have in Rawtenstall.
“They have a restaurant upstairs and a nightclub downstairs to suit everyone’s needs.
“With faith, belief and action we can make this happen for the people.”
