A 47-YEAR-OLD man hanged himself on the day he arrived back from a two-week holiday in Crete, an inquest heard.
Nigel Wilson, of Orpen Avenue, Burnley, was found dead by his partner in the garage of their home on September 28 last year, a hearing at Burnley Crown Court heard.
The hearing was told Mr Wilson had a history of depression.
A statement read to the court reported that on September 13 he and partner Linda Redman had travelled to Crete and joined other friends and family where they had a ‘good holiday’.
The couple returned to Burnley two weeks later and Miss Redman visited her mother during which time Mr Wilson could not be contacted by phone.
On returning home she found her partner and called police and paramedics who pronounced him dead.
At a hearing on Tuesday senior East Lancashire coroner Richard Taylor recorded a conclusion that his death was by suicide.
*In an earlier version of this story it was incorrectly stated that Mr Wilson had been treated for depression for five years prior to his death. We apologise for this error and any distress this has caused to Mr Wilson's family.
