TWO young men who crashed a van into a wall in the early hours of yesterday have been asked to come forward.
Residents in Cog Lane, Burnley, called police after the van hit scaffolding and crashed into a wall at around 3am.
They said the two young men remained in the van after the crash, but ran away after a few minutes.
Inspector Dave Croll, of Burnley Police, said: "We have recovered the van and we are now making inquiries as to who the registered owner is.
"At the moment, the van has not been reported stolen.
"Obviously we need to find out what has happened here and we would like the two men involved in this incident to come forward.
"We would also like anyone else who saw the incident or knows anything about it to give us a call."
He added that the men left the scene of the crash before residents could get a good look at them, but one was described as having fair hair and wearing a white top.
Although the scaffolding near the wall was hit, it remained intact and builders were called out later that morning to ensure it was secure.
Anyone with information about the incident should contact Burnley police on 01282 425001 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
