RESIDENTS of Hillcrest in Cliviger have got together with local PCSO Dave Johnson to set up a new neighbourhood watch scheme for the area.
PCSO Dave Johnson, who works alongside Community Beat Manager PC Glynn Grey, will be delivering packs of information and window stickers to all those in the area shortly.
He said: "Neighbourhood watch schemes have a proven track record of not only reducing crime but also having a big impact on the fear of crime especially amongst the more elderly in our communities.
"Proper security and warning stickers has a deterrent effect on crime and also has the effect on bringing communities closer together to inform the police of any issues they may have.
"All the residents will have my contact details and I would urge them to get in touch to discuss any local issues they may have that do not necessarily warrant an immediate police response.
"To those who come to cause any problems in the area be aware - over 50 resident curtain twitchers are watching you."
