A MEMORIAL garden where people can scatter the ashes of their loved ones has been created in Sunnyhurst Wood.
A group of 16 teenagers and adults worked on the garden as part of the Lancashire Fire and Rescue Prince's Trust Programme.
The workers, aged from 16 to 25, presented the memorial garden to the Friends of Sunnyhurst Wood on Friday.
They worked on it for two weeks and raised funding for gardening equipment by bag- packing at Asda and contacting companies to ask for donations.
Inspector at Darwen CID Andrea Bradbury attended the presentation along with Prince's Trust leaders and ChiefInspector Alice Knowles.
Insp Bradbury said: "The Prince's Trust team programme helps young people get their lives back on track and helps them to fulfil their potential.
When working under the programme, youths are encouraged to give something back to their community and this project has really helped them to do that.
"I am incredibly proud of all of the young people who took part in the programme "And I hope that the hard work they have put into the project has really paid off, giving each participant a real sense of achieve-ment."
The garden is about 300 yards past the bandstand on the approach to Earnsdale Road and the visitor centre.
