A GREEN space opened to mark the millennium has received a clean-up.
The Millennium Green in Waterside, Colne, had fallen into disrepair after being opened to mark the celebrations in 2000.
But it received a clean-up after winning BBC Radio Lancashire's Breathing Places competition, where people were asked to vote for the area most in need of a makeover.
Local volunteers now hope that they will be able to maintain community involvement in the green and ensure that it remains in a good condition.
The five-acre Millennium Green was one of 261 created with grant money handed out to mark the year 2000.
