YOUNG people have been taking up the chance of building a career in the construction industry while a company carries out major housing improvements.
Trainee joiners James Martin, 16, of Baxenden, and Tom Whittaker, 16, of Waterfoot, and trainee plumbers Ian James, 18, of Rawtenstall, and Gareth Carter, 17, of Accrington, all attend Accrington and Rossendale College and have been employed by housing refurbishment specialist Lovell under their apprenticeship scheme.
The company is carrying out work on houses owned by social landlord Green Vale Homes.
The works are part of a £30m housing modernis-ation programme Lovell is undertaking in the region for Trans-Pennine Housing Group, which Green Vale is part of.
