THE hard work of a charity fundraiser has been recognised in the Queen's Birthday Honours List.
Olwyn Keogh, from Chipping, formed Friends of Chernobyl's Children 12-years-ago and has been given an MBE in recognition of her efforts.
Mrs Keogh was inspired to help children affected in the wake of the nuclear disaster that struck the Ukrainian town of Chernobyl in April 1986.
The charity has now spread nationwide and there are 32 groups that take in young children from eastern Europe for a holiday each year.
Mrs Keogh said: "There are hundreds of people who work for us nationally and the credit for its success belongs to all of them."
