A VILLAGE has stepped up its efforts to take the top prize in the North West in Bloom competit-ion by unveiling a new 'Gateway' stone.
Stubbins will go head-to-head with other pretty areas in the region on July 12.
The stone, donated by Lancashire Stone Cutters of Ramsbottom and new plants, donated by B&Q Bury, were organised by Stubbins in Bloom co-ordinator Lavinia Tod.
On Sunday a community gardening day will be held at the garden area next to the chip shop in Bolton Road North for further improve the village.
And a three tier planter will be placed in the garden area from 1pm.
The next Stubbins Residents' Association meeting is at St Philips Church Hall, Chatterton, at 7.30pm today.
