Stocks of chicken at a Darwen supermarket had to be withdrawn from sale today after a fault was found in a chiller.
Fresh chicken at Iceland, School Street, were taken off the shelves following the discovery.
A spokesman for Iceland said the birds were withdrawn as a precaution after one chicken started to smell like it had gone off.
She added a new chiller was due to be delivered to the store tomorrow.
