BURNLEY: A date has been set for a public inquiry into controversial plans to build a school in Towneley Park.
The hearing into Lancashire County Council serving a compulsory order on Burnley Borough Council will start in the town hall on August 14.
The county council served the order after the borough council refused to hand over land for the new 1,050-place school.
The building would replace Towneley High School as part of the £250million Building Schools for the Future scheme.
Campaign groups claim the school would lead to a loss of parkland and damage the park.
