FOOTBALL lovers who were enjoying a pint dug deep into their pockets to raise money for Pendleside Hospice.
A spur of the moment collection at Pendleside Hospice raised £62.30 while the drinkers were watching a football match at the Sparrow Hawk Pub, in Fence.
Gemma Bayliffe, fundraising assistant at the hospice, said: "A big thank you to all of the guys who put a colection together for Pendlside Hospice.
"No matter what the event or collection every penny helps."
Pendleside is a registered charity providing specialist, palliative care to local people suffering from cancer and other life threatening illnesses.
Running costs are expected to exceed £1.8 million in the current financial year after a grant from the local primary care trust only provided about 22 per cent of costs.
The hospice is left with £1.4 million to raise from donations and fundraising events.
