TWO men have been cleared of taking part in a gang attack after an alleged victim was hit with bats and sticks oustide an Accrington chip shop.

Yasin Hussain, 35, of Pickup Street, and Asif Amid, 25, of Portland Street in the town, were both found not guilty of violent disorder and assault causing actual bodily harm, after a trial at Burnley Crown Court.

They had denied the charges and said they were not involved.

The jury had heard how complainant Zahir Khawaja was said to have been beaten after three cars full of men pulled up outside the shop on Richmond Road, in May last year.
