A NEW generation of mobile fire stations are being deployed across the county.

One of the three new units, the size of a domestic garage, will be based in Blackburn for use across East Lancashire.

The new £171,345 state-of-the-art stations have a computer suite/radio room, conference/incident command suite, kitchen and toilet facilities built in, offering high levels of versatility whether at major emergencies or events promoting fire safety.

One of the main features is a facility that allows firefighters to get a bird's-eye-view of an incident from video footage from the police helicopter.
