A CHILDREN's centre is celebrating after being named a finalist in a prestigious national awards scheme.
The Maden Community and Children's Centre, in Bacup, is in the running for a 4Children National Star Award, after being the team was nominated by manager Michaela Francioli.
If successful, they will take home the Children's Centre Team Award, after Michaela showed the selecting panel what a remarkable team they are, making a great difference to the community.
Michaela said: "I think the fact that we have been shortlisted is fantastic.
"It is a chance to show the inspiring work which is being done in child care and put it in the spotlight.
"In the past child care has been a poor career but it is much better now because there is improved funding and people recognise the importance of the early years."
The Awards, which are supported by the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) celebrate the country's most dedicated and inspiring workers in the sector.
