A PATH could be restored to the motorway services near junction four of the M65 at Darwen.
When the site was being developed, builders used the 36-metre route from Redvers Road to the main service area.
But once building was completed, the owners removed the path and instead relied on a public footpath bordering the site.
Residents in Redvers Road have campaigned against the loss of the short-cut, which takes 150 metres off visits to the services.
Site owners Swayfields have now lodged an application to bring back the path.
