A LORRY driver has been accused of causing death by dangerous driving following an accident in which a retired lecturer was killed.
Valerie Taylor, 63, of Haslingden Old Road, Rawtenstall, died after a lorry, carrying 40 tonnes of scrap metal toppled on to her Peugeot 206, last November, as she was travelling to Liverpool.
The lorry was driven by Brian Kynaston, 42, of Shropshire, and he will appear before Liverpool magistrates in August.
The accident happened as both vehicles were leaving the M62.
Valerie, a retired lecturer at Accrington and Rossendale College, was pronounced dead at the scene.
An inquest was opened into Valerie's death, in Liverpool but was adjourned pending the outcome of the court case.
