A BOSS of Burnley Football Club has been given a Royal role by Prince Charles.
Dave Edmundson, head of strategic development at the club, has been annouced as the Prince of Wales' ambassador on corporate responsibility in the north west.
In a personal video message to guests at Business in the Community's Awards for Excellence Gala Dinner last night, the Prince announced the role for Mr Edmundson, who is also chairman of the Community Sports Trust.
The role will see him try to act as a catalyst for social and economic change in the community.
A spokesman for Business in the Community, which oversees the role, said: "Dave is passionate about making a real difference through his role, both within Burnley FC, and as an ambassador for the BetterBurnley Campaign.
"He is committed to the responsible business agenda, awareness of the positive aspects of the Borough as well as ensuring that Burnley is truly a football club for its people."
Mr Edmondson will receive personal thanks and recognition from the prince at a gala dinner hosted by Business in the Community in London on July 2.
