A MAN became trapped in his car after the vehicle crashed into a lamp post near Blackburn town centre.
The driver suffered two broken legs and was taken to hospital by paramedics from the North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) following the incident on Tuesday night.

The emergency services were called to the scene in Park Road, close to the junction with Lower Audley Street, shortly after 7pm after receiving a call from a passer-by.
Firefighters from Blackburn Fire Station cut the man out of the blue Ford Fiesta before he was transported to Royal Preston Hospital for treatment.
A second man, who was the passenger in the car, suffered minor injuries, police said, and he was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital to receive further treatment.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash and an investigation has been launched by police officers into the cause of the incident.
Two fire engines were at the scene on Tuesday night, along with an ambulance and four police patrol cars.
The incident, which caused tailbacks in to the town centre, saw police diverting traffic away from the incident until the car was removed from the scene.
A spokeswoman for police said: “We were called to the scene shortly after 7pm by the ambulance service.
“We were told that a car had collided with a lamp post and that a man had become trapped inside his vehicle.
“When we got to the scene the fire service was also called to attend as the man could not safely exit the car on his own.
“An investigation was launched and we are appealing for any witnesses to come forward with any information.”
A spokesman for the ambulance service said: “We took two patients to hospital on Tuesday evening but there is no further information on their current condition.”
