AN investigation has been launched after a 'significant' fire broke out in Briercliffe this morning.
The blaze occurred at around 6.40am in the attic of a house in Jubilee Street.
Fire crews from Burnley, Nelson and Hyndburn were called to put out the fire with two hose reels which took around 45 minutes.
There were no casualties at the incident but the damage to the roof is believed to be significant and was described as being 'well alight' when the initial call was made.
Firefighters are now trying to work out the cause of the fire.
