STALWART fundraisers have joined forces to take part in Britain’s Biggest Breakfast for Cancer Research UK.

Members of the Colne and West Craven Cancer Research UK group and the Kelbrook Ladies Guild will be hosting “The Big Breakfast” on the morning of Saturday March 12.

Britain’s Biggest Breakfast for Cancer Research UK is a fundraising campaign which calls on supporters to host or attend a breakfast any time during March.

The charity is encouraging people to organise a breakfast party at home, in the office or at school and invite their friends and family to make a donation to attend. The Big Breakfast event will be held at Kelbrook Village Hall between 9.30am and 12pm.

Lancashire Telegraph:

Secretary of Colne and West Craven Cancer Research UK group, Maggie Cannon, who lives in Foulridge, said: “We’re very proud to be supporting Britain’s Biggest Breakfast for Cancer Research UK. Hosting a breakfast event is a really fun and simple way to raise much-needed funds for a worthwhile cause.”

Every day, around 110 people are diagnosed with cancer in the North West. And that’s why Cancer Research UK is calling on people across the region to sign up for their free fundraising pack now. Jane Bullock, Cancer Research UK spokesperson for Lancashire, said: “We’re calling on local folk to follow the lead of these ladies in March. Friends, family, neighbours and colleagues can all bring something to the table - from porridge to poached eggs, anything goes! Whether you’re serving up a breakfast spread for five or 50 people, every pound donated will help to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.”

Cancer Research UK receives no Government funding for its research but with help from the people of Lancashire the charity is fighting the disease on all fronts.

Last year Cancer Research UK spent more than £21m in the North West on research which is helping more men, women and children to survive the disease Cancer survival rates have doubled since the 1970s and Cancer Research UK’s work has been at the heart of that progress. But to help even more people survive, Cancer Research UK needs everyone in Lancashire to act.

Jane Bullock continued: “One in two people in the UK will be diagnosed with cancer at some stage in their lives. Thanks to advances in research more people are surviving than ever before, but there’s still more work to be done. That’s why we need men and women in Lancashire to show their support and help us to fund life-saving research.

“This March, we’re hoping that kitchen tables across Lancashire will be teaming with toast, brimming with bagels and packed with porridge. It’s time to get your taste buds in gear and make your breakfast bigger and better than ever for Cancer Research UK.”
