A McDonald's worker was punched through the drive-thru window after refusing to serve pedestrians.

Blackburn magistrates heard CCTV footage also showed Azeem Jordon Pervaiz trying to pull a till out of another window causing extensive damage.

Pervaiz, 34, of Norfolk Grove, Church, pleaded guilty to assaulting Sam Wilson and damaging a till monitor screen, set of headphones and a window opening.. He was ordered to pay £910 compensation to McDonalds and £50 to Mr Wilson.

Suzie Privett, prosecuting, said it was 3.30 am when a couple approached the drive-thru window and asked for a meal. Mr Wilson explained the restaurant was closed and it was company policy only to serve people in vehicles from the drive-thru window.

"The defendant then appeared and threw a punch at Mr Wilson, catching him in the mouth," said Miss Privett.

Robin Phoenix, defending, said his client had never been in trouble before and the behaviour was completely out of character.

"He blames it on drink and drugs and a bad circle of friends," said Mr Phoenix.

"He hasn't had anything to drink or taken any illicit substances since he was arrested three months ago."
