TRAFFIC around Lea Bridge Road has come to a stand-still after scaffolding came away from a shop following a day of high winds.
Police closed part of the road in Leyton just west of Peterborough Road last night, because of the unsafe structure which has come three to four foot away from the shopfront.
The road remains closed causing severe delays in the area.
Surrounding roads including Essex Road and Whipps Cross Road have experienced a heavy build up in traffic and bus routes have been diverted.
The UK is experiencing rain and high winds as a result of Storm Barney - the second storm to be named by the Met Office this season.
