A LITTER pick is being held to kick-start a village's bid to be crowned the brightest in the North West.
The Stubbins Residents Association (SRA) is urging schools, businesses and residents join in their bid to win the best kept village category as part of the Britain in Bloom contest.
Residents are asked to attend a public meeting at St Philip's Church, on Tuesday, May 15 at 7.30pm.
The litter pick will start at the community garden near the chip shop on Sunday, May 20 at 1pm.
Helen Gillibrand of SRA said: "We wanted to try and put a little team together to plant the community garden out with flowers.
"The idea snowballed and it was suggested we enter the best village category.
"We are hoping to get everyone's support and encourage people to display hanging baskets and flower boxes."
