A MINOR explosion at an electricity sub-station knocked off power supplies to more that 1,000 homes today.
Houses were affected across the Openshaw Drive area of Blackburn just after 1pm.
United Utilities workers had supplies back on after an hour, although electricity returned in around 200 houses slightly later.
A spokesman for the company apologised for the power cut, which they said was caused by a fault in a switch.
