POST OFFICE services are set to return to Downham – thanks to the introduction of a new outreach service.
Gary Scott, Ribble Valley borough councillor for Chatburn, Downham and Twiston, said the service will operate from The Old Butcher’s shop in West Lane, Downham.
He said: “Post office services were withdrawn from the village in September 2013 when the postmaster resigned.
“The premises were withdrawn for post office use.
“I am glad to say that after a long process the Post Office is now in a position to restore a service to the local community.”
A local postmaster has been appointed and will offer the service from The Old Butcher’s shop.
The new post office will have opening hours from 10.30 am to 12.30pm every Monday.
