ENERGY company npower has given Rossendale Council a certificate for its commitment to using green energy.
The authority has used renewable energy for the last two years and has just signed a new deal with the power company for them to provide electricty until 2009.
Lee Childs, the council's facilities officer, said: "The council is committed to using energy from renewable sources where possible and playing its part in reducing carbon emissions."
Almost all the council's buildings use green energy.
