A 45-year-old Accrington man poured paint stripper over the bonnet of his girlfriend's BMW because she wouldn't answer the door to him, a court was told.
Hyndburn magistrates heard that Clive Darrell McMillan walked home after the apparent snub, collected the paint stripper from his house and then returned to carry out the attack.
McMillan, of Whitewell Road, pleaded guilty to damaging property belonging to Helen Sutherland.
He was given a conditional discharge for 12 months and ordered to pay £450 compensation and £100 costs.
Charlotte Crane, prosecuting, said McMillan had given Miss Sutherland a lift into Burnley where she was having a night out with friends.
She didn't phone him as arranged and he took exception.
When interviewed by police McMillan admitted that he "saw red" when he called round in the early hours and she did not answer the door.
