A DARWEN woman suffered a broken leg in a fall at a nursing home in the town and died within two days, an inquest was told.
Emily Orrell, 95, a resident at Moorland View nursing home, in Exchange Street, was admitted to the Royal Blackburn Hospital following the fall on Sunday, April 8.
Surgeons operated on the pensioner but her condition gradually worsened and she died on Tuesday, the inquest heard.
Coroner Michael Singleton gave the cause of death as heart failure, linked to a narrowing of the heart valves, with the leg fracture cited as a contributory factor.
The inquest, which was opened on Friday in Blackburn, was adjourned for a full hearing on July 3.
