HOSPITAL and ambulance bosses have been in discussions over the transfer of patients from Burnley to Blackburn.
Concerns have been raised that patients have not always been transferred quickly enough from Burnley's Urgent Care Centre to Blackburn's emergency department, and have not always received prompt attention on arrival.
A draft protocol has been sent to the head of urgent care at North West Ambulance Service, which is establishing a clinical support desk to support decision making in relation to transfers.
A business case to ensure there are enough vehicles available to support timely transfers has also been submitted to commissioners.
