FORMER Burnley defender Clarke Carlisle has revealed he has split from his wife over the impact his depression and suicide attempt has had on his life.
The 35-year-old stepped in front of a moving truck on the A64 near York in December, suffering cuts, bruises, internal bleeding, a broken rib and a shattered left knee.
The incident has left him with severe scars from head to toe.

He said: “At this point, Gemma and I have separated.
“I have moved out of the marital home because I have to focus on my wellbeing and equally as much Gemma has to do the same.

Mr Carlisle, who spoke on radio station TalkSport, said the impact on his family had been huge.
He said: “It is often overlooked that for every suicide victim and every suicide attemptee, which I am, there is a partner, children, siblings and extended family.
“There are literally dozens of people who are going through the most dramatic experience of their lives and when you have been with someone for 14 years, as I have with Gem, it has just been horrendous for her.
“When I came out of hospital I was a completely different human being.
“It is a paradigm shift in behaviour from the person that she met, and subsequently the person who I became and the person who went into hospital.
“Every day has been incredibly difficult.
“When you have been with someone for 14 years but for the vast majority you have been masking certain feelings and thoughts and I have been doing that because I am a people pleaser.
“My people pleasing behaviours have been with me for life but it is over recent years that it has come at a cost to me as an individual and that has had an impact on me as a person and I have despised myself.”
