A NETWORKING and telecommunications supplier has revealed plans to take on ‘at least ten more staff’ when it expands.

The Attock group currently has three companies based in Cotton Street, Accrington, but has now applied for planning permission to build a new warehouse and offices at unit five on the Altham Business Park, in Metcalf Drive.

Its server cabinets brand All-Rack, which is only two years old, will operate from the new site, managing director and owner Sharafat Shah said.

“The server rack part of the business is the one we are expanding, that’s what has prompted us to move,” he said.

“It’s growing bigger and selling better and we are bidding for big contracts and exhibiting in four exhibits in the UK this year, and are planning to exhibit at two international exhibits next year.”

Mr Shah said the group currently employs 11 members of staff, and will take on at least 10 more in the next 18 months.

Two or three will be warehouse staff, while others will be technical workers, salespeople and marketers, he said.

“I aim to commit to the building project some time in April or early May,” he said.

Attock was been established for over 20 years, after it was started by Mr Shah and his wife in their spare room.

Originally based in Staines, the pair moved the business to East Lancashire in 1996 and have moved around Hyndburn several times as the company has expanded.

Attock Communication, which makes cabling systems, and Attock Network Products, which supplies a range of networking and telecoms equipment, will both remain in Cotton Street, Mr Shah said.

In a design and access statement lodged with Hyndburn Council, the company said the proposed site for its new 13,855 sq ft warehouse and offices is on a ‘vacant plot of land at the side of C.W. Cartons Limited’.

The company’s application will be scrutinised by planning officers at the council, and a decision will then be made in the near future.
